Worth the Wait!

What does "pub" actually mean? The definition according to Dictionary.com is "formal:  public house  a building with a bar and one or more public rooms licensed for the sale and consumption of alcoholic drink, often also providing light meals".  When you walk into a restaurant, you expect a hostess at the door waiting to take your name and have a seat ready for you in a relatively quick manner. But even at the most family orientated restaurants, you can sometimes wait up to 45 minutes to get a table. And people do wait because this is the place they have decided they want to eat. When you walk into Dublin, as any other pub, there is no hostess or list of names for one to be put on. If we are full, and this is the place you have chosen to visit for the evening then you might have to wait. Maybe have a drink at the bar. Grab a cold beer and wander around the place, there is more than enough to see! Our decor is a sight to behold, it's fantastic! There are numerous pictures on the walls or just look up and marvel at the amazing job they've done on our ceiling alone! If it's after 9pm on a a Friday or Saturday night, there is always live entertainment.

Myself, I have absolutely no problem letting any customer that comes up to me know if I have a table that will be coming available anytime soon. I don't know of any servers who do have a problem with this. No, we don't have a list for you to be called when a table becomes available, but I have not been to many pubs that do. We at the Dublin Crossing are a pub. We are a place to come, visit with friends and maybe have something to eat which is  recommended by myself; there is more than enough to choose from for any appetite. I believe that our menu stands above most, and might sometimes confuse your average patron because our Prime Rib Dinner (available on Friday and Saturday nights only) can rival the best restaurants in town! But does this make us a restaurant? No! We are a pub: a place to come in, hang out and have a good time. If we are full - this is a good thing. Maybe not so much for the person who wants a table the minute they walk through the door but essentially, that's how it goes when you walk into a pub.  Grab yourself a drink and hang out while you wait for a table. You might have to guard the table you're waiting for with your life, but if a server in any certain section has spoken with you and knows you are waiting for that table, we aren't going to let someone else sit there! Just ask. You might be pleasantly surprised!

Dublin Crossing's First Blog

The Dublin Crossing has decided we should dabble in the online world of blogging. This is the first blog for both the Pub and the writer, a part of Dublin Crossing since opening their doors almost four and a half years ago. With summer upon us this is the perfect time to let our readers know about all of the exciting events happening over the next few months!

Come watch our Vancouver Canucks as they make history! WE BELIEVE!! Watch the games on our huge projection screen TV upstairs. There are two other TV's to watch on upstairs and more TV's downstairs than we've ever had before! Sit at the bar where the noise and excitement is or steal away to the back of the pub and watch the game in your own little corner of Dublin while you can enjoy our fantastic wings or try our NEW spinach and goat cheese dip! GO CANUCKS GO!!

There is nothing quite like sitting outside on a hot day sipping a nice cold beer and Dublin has not one, but two large patios for you to choose from. As for your choices of beer ... we won't disappoint! The front patio has sunshine all day long until the early evening hours; whereas our back patio has that awesome sunshine all afternoon and becomes the perfect shaded spot for those evenings you just can't take anymore but aren't quite ready to head inside! Remember to get there early because they fill up fast and are only open until 10pm due to Surrey by-laws.

As you sit on our patio sipping a nice cold beer, try our NEW MENU ITEMS! Twice a year we bring you something new to try that remains on our menu for half the year and every day of the week we have daily specials to tempt the tastebuds. Our New Menu begins May 24th and will run until the Fall.
